UNLOCKING NATURE AND ENRICHING LIVES THROUGH FOOD SAFETY
Knowing fully well that Food is Fundamental to human existence, and as a strong food safety advocate, a street food safety champion and a food evangelist, I was invited to be part of the ADM Food Safety Conference, 2022 that took place at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos on Friday, 28th October, 2022.
ADM, the organizer believed that everyone has the right to the food they need to sustain their lives. Food derived from nature is an important driver of health and wellness and access to nutrition has the power to solve many of the world’s challenges and that is why all human exist …to unlock the power of nature to enrich the quality of life.
At the maiden edition of the ADM Food Safety Conference, the Guest speaker spoke extensively on Food Safety Tools- Secret to Enhancing Global Food Trade. At the solution spotlights, experts from National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) dwell on the topic “Exploring the Food Supply Chain; Challenges and Strategies in implementing Food Safety Management Systems in Nigeria” while representatives from the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST),a professional association of food professionals spoke on “What Have We Learned to Make Our Food Systems More Resilient in Nigeria?. Quality Assurance and Food Safety in ADM: Our recipe for Success was handled by Dr. Adeniyi Odugbemi, PhD, Global Director of Food Safety, ADM. Also, there was a session on “Emerging Food Safety and Quality Concerns in the Food and Beverage Industry in Africa and their Solutions” and the panelist were drawn from the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON); Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI); Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) and industry representative from Nestle PLC Nigeria. The ADM Food Safety Conference also have a Solution Roundtable on “Practical Approaches to Enhance Food Safety in Nigeria- prospects” and another one on “Food Safety, Quality & Compliance- Creating a Customer-centric Culture of Quality”.
In all, this Food Safety Conference open the participants eyes on the reasons to unlock the power of nature to enrich the quality of life since food is fundamental in all human endeavors.
